About Supernova | El Salvador
Supernova is our newest concept created to sit alongside our Nova blend. A medium-dark roast profile perfect for espresso brewing or if you enjoy a more well developed filter roast. Roasted to tame acidity while enhancing body and sweetness. We feature a range of different coffees throughout the year.
High in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountains of western El Salvador, near the town of Concepción de Ataco, El Molino is the largest of the farms owned by the Salaverria family. Its 215 hectares climb from around 1,350 to 1,700 metres above sea level, rising from the El Padre lot at the lowest point to Buena Vista at the top. Much of the land faces away from the Pacific, and the terrain changes constantly across the farm: some slopes need windbreaks, while others sit under heavy shade. Bourbon makes up most of the planting, alongside Hybrido de San Francisco (HSF), a variety the family developed from Pacas on their nearby San Francisco farm. Pacas itself, a compact natural mutation of Bourbon, also grows here, together with Caturra and Catuai. Farm manager Tomas Mendoza has been with the family's company, Jasal, for more than a decade. El Molino was once the family's processing hub, but since 2002 every cherry has been processed at their Las Cruces mill, with El Molino's old patios still used for drying during the busiest weeks of the December-to-March harvest.

Coffee Origin
El Salvador 🇸🇻
Typically, coffees from El Salvador were well balanced with good sweetness and balanced acidity. However coffee producers that grow interesting varietals have managed to create very complex and characterful coffees. Discover more about El Salvador's history, processing methods and flavour profiles in our El Salvador coffee guide.
Processing Method
Natural
The natural process is the most traditional method, where whole cherries are dried intact in the sun. As the fruit dries around the bean, it imparts a heavy body and intense fruit flavours. When well-executed, it produces a sweet and fruity coffee.
Coffee Varietal
Mixed Varietals
This coffee may include several different coffee varietals. On many farms, multiple cultivars are grown side-by-side and harvested together. In other cases, a coffee may be composed of several components selected to create a balanced flavour profile. Each varietal contributes its own characteristics to the final cup.

Great for aeropress!
Works well for all brew methods
Smooth, rich and chocolatey with a lovely sweetness.
We use this in a Delonghi coffee machine and it produces a sublime coffee. I rarely buy coffee out now, because it’s hard to find anything as good as I can make at home.
Really impressed - shall be reordering 👍
Excellent crema, smooth, chocolatey taste balanced sweetness. Love it.
Sweet, bold and well balanced coffee. Fast delivery, beautiful packaging. The customer service is brilliant 👍
Another excellent, tasty coffee from Horsham Coffee Roaster. Lots of depth. I have been using it to make iced coffees in the heatwave - though the purists may not agree! Everything from this company has been a happy surprise - such good quality for the price.
A really nice blend for a more traditional espresso and great for milk drinks. It’s an easy coffee to dial in as well. For me though, the Nova blend is more to my taste.
Great ground for my drip machine or moka pot, French press or aeropress. Not sure how it could be better across the range. Probably the “if Carlesburg made all rounder coffee beans”….
Great coffee. Great prices.. Great service.
I love nova and choose it as my main coffee each month, I love a dark roast and this one takes all the great things about nova and amplifies it, I really love the chocolate and molasses notes, a pleasurable drinking experience.
I am really impressed with this coffee. There are a lot of claims for coffees that are great for espresso and for long drinks but this is really beautiful. It is absolutely wonderful for both. I hope this becomes a permanent fixture. I would happily choose it as my favourite for both espresso and lungo's.
Really pleased with these beans, I found the best way for me was to grind fine and use my stove top, nice subtle taste with a pleasant aroma.
Very happy with this purchase. Something different and very tasty. Highly recommend!
Nice and rounded!
I love a strong but flavourful, aromatic coffee and Supernova ticks all those boxes! Despite it being a stronger blend, there is a sweet and chocolatey taste with none of the acidity you might find in other similar roasts. Supernova tastes just as good black as it does white and it’s definitely a coffee I’ll come back to. Another winning coffee from HCR!
Beautiful blend, smooth and moreish 100 percent recommend for your morning coffee.
