  • About Jairo Arcila natural Decaf | Colombia

We are very excited to re-release this stunning natural processed decaffeinated coffee using the Colombian sugar cane method. Jairo Arcila is a third-generation coffee grower from Quindio, Colombia. He is married to Luz Helena Salazar and they have two children together, Carlos and Felipe Arcila, who are the co-founders of Cofinet, the distribution arm of their coffee.

This coffee was carefully hand-picked in order to select only the ripest cherries and then hand sorted to remove any defects. The coffee was sundried on raised beds in temperature-controlled conditions until the ideal moisture content is achieved.

This decaffeination process takes place in Colombia using the E.A. Sugarcane method know for producing a very sweet, fruity decaffeinated coffee.

Not for me

Someone else said it, I think this is a marmite coffee. I had high expectations but sadly neither me or my husband like it. It's got a distinct unusual flavour and may not be to everyone's taste. Buy the small pack first to try!

This. Is. Stellar.

For those looking for a properly interesting decaf, this is well worth a look. Not one for those who don't like fruitier, fermented flavours, but if that's your jam (literally) you'll love this.

More please!

Interesting coffee what a shame it’s so darkly roasted

would have enjoyed this a lot more if it was a light roast

Hi Derek, thanks for your order. One common misunderstanding with certain types of decaf is the roasted bean colour. The E.A. decaf process creates a very dark green bean with a shiny texture. When roasted this means the beans look like a dark oily roast but in fact this isn't the case at all. We cup this coffee weekly and any assesment of the roast really needs to be done on taste as the visual appearance of this type of decaf is so different to normal coffees.

Outstanding Decaf

Probably the best decaf coffee I've tried. It is surprisingly rich and full of flavor, the deep sweetness of black cherry and molasses gives it a smooth, fruity depth, which I didn't expect in a decaf coffee. Perfect for enjoying any time of day without missing out on great taste. Will definitely order again!

Finally!! An unusual decaf!

Thanks for sourcing this. I've tried hundreds of decafs since having to give up caffeine for medical reasons and this is one of the most stimulating ones! It's easy to find decent decaf these days but they're usually OK or as good as mediocre caffeinated one. This one is a step beyond that! Well impressed! Tastes great black (espresso or V60).

Great for pourover

So far I think this is the best decaf for a v60 that I have tried- the fruit notes really shine, it makes a great pourover. I havnt tried it with espresso yet

Fantastic coffee, full of rich fruit in the cup

I'm really rather impressed with this fruit bomb of a coffee. I particularly love Colombia & Guatemala origin, and natural process so finding this as a decaf is a godsend as I have had to reduce caffeine in my life. This is as good as the El Paraiso decaf you roasted last year. Love it. Do more of this!!

Hmm

I must be honest, though I know it’s personal preference. I feel this one is like marmite, though I’m not sure if I love or hate it! I was super excited to try this decaf as castillo beans are my fave. It is very fruity, almost overpowering the “coffeeness” to me. As a decaf it is impressive but sadly not for me.
