  • About Workhorse Blend | Rwanda / Brazil

    Our Workhorse blend is built around the concept of consistency and reliability and combines our directly traded coffees from Rwanda and Brazil.

    The blend contains:

    Rwanda Liza washed 50%
    Brazil Inhame pulped natural 50%

    Workhorse is a light roast espresso and perfect if you like a bright, juicy, but well-balanced espresso. If you are looking for a traditional Italian style espresso take a look at our Nova Blend.

The Producer

Bwishaza

Bwishaza washing station is one of our relationship producers and we've been working with them since 2016. They are co-operative owned and work with around 600 small-hold farmers. The co-operative produces a wide range of coffees for us include anaerobic natural, honey process and washed coffees.

The Producer

Mantiqueira

The Serra de Mantiqueira is a mountain range that stretches across São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro states. This coffee is produced by a group of farmers, natural processed and dried on concrete patios.

Absolutely the best coffee

We used to use Pact coffee, but these guys are so much better! We especially like the workhorse and cooperative blends, but we’ve also yet to have a bad batch from them in the almost 2 years we’ve been getting our coffee from them! Highly recommend (we always buy whole beans)

Having tried the sample pack; as a relative novice I found the Workhorse Blend the easiest to get consistent results from. I am half way through the first pack and very happy with what I am drinking.

Darker, not dark enough.

This is clearly a freshly roasted, high quality batch of beans.

Unfortunately, it is still not roasted dark enough to be drinkable without drowning it in milk. For an espresso, it is like drinking lemonade. The acidity is through the roof, and clearly still in the "specialty" coffee levels rather than that smooth classic Italian espresso.
