  • About Nova Espresso Blend

Nova Espresso blend is our take on a more traditional high-quality Italian-style espresso blend.

    The blend contains:

    Uganda Rwenzori Mountains natural 20%
    Rwanda Liza washed 30%
    Brazil Samba natural 50%

Based on a really good quality coffee from Brazil, this blend is roasted a touch darker than our Workhorse blend. We've developed the blend and roast style to suit espresso extraction and it's easy to work with and fairly forgiving.

Samba

Samba is our Brazilian natural-process coffee, sourced from a blend of farms across Minas Gerais, São Paulo, and Cerrado at 900–1100 masl. It draws on a mix of traditional varietals like Mundo Novo, Bourbon and Catuai alongside newer varieties such as Arara, Catucai and IAC125. Cherries are processed at farm level, then rested in wooden silos before cupping, cleaning and laser sorting ahead of export, with harvest running May to August.

Not for me!

Tried thier Horsham Nova and felt it's too dark and taste similar like Italian dark roast and compared to other brands I tried.

Hi Pavan, thanks for sharing your feedback. We're sorry the Nova Espresso Blend wasn't to your taste. Nova Espresso blend is our take on a more traditional high-quality Italian-style espresso blend and is described by us as 'medium-dark'. If you prefer a lighter roast, we'd suggest the Workhorse Blend, El Zumo or one of our single-origin coffees. Look out for the 'light roast' designation on the coffee or navigate to our Light Roast section on the website.

Favourite Blend

I ordered a few different varieties of beans to try and this was one of my favourites. It’s the perfect chocolatey tasting coffee that I love without any acidity at all. Easy to dial in and makes great milky drinks.

Darker, Not Dark Enough

This is clearly a freshly roasted, high quality batch of beans. Unfortunately, it is still not roasted dark enough to be drinkable without drowning it in milk. For an espresso, it is like drinking lemonade. The acidity is through the roof, and clearly still in the "specialty" coffee levels rather than that smooth classic Italian espresso.

Nice coffee

Very acceptable coffee. Doesn't set the coffee world on fire 🔥 but I've certainly had a lot worse. Pleasantly smooth and not bitter.

Great taste

Really pleased with these beans, I found the best way for me was to grind fine and use my stove top, nice subtle taste with a pleasant aroma.

Good taste, struggle to get any crema with EC685

I bought a bag of espresso ground Nova blend. I like its taste, but I'm not getting the full experience as I'm unable to get any crema. I suspect it needs some tuning of my little Delonghi EC685 to achieve this. (Suggestions would be welcome)

New coffee Machine needed ?

When I first tried this coffee, I thought wow, what a great taste, so much so, I went through the vendors bin to find a named packet. Sadly it doesn’t taste the same from my domestic machine though. I’ve tried all kinds of milk and quantities etc. Maybe it’s time for a new coffee machine.

Great tasting coffee from the right machine.

Outstanding!

The Nova Espresso Blend is truly wonderful, with the Brazilian beans giving it those awesome caramel/chocolate notes, and the Rwandan beans giving it the slight fruity overtones. A mid-roasted delight, especially perfect for milk-based espresso drinks. Very smooth and very, very delicious. I would also like to point out that the customer service from HCR is exceptional.
Congrats, this is outstanding!
