About La Fortuna | Peru
Pomahuaca District is one of twelve districts in the province of Jaén in the Cajamarca region of northern Peru, a remote highland area gaining a reputation for exceptional smallholder coffees. This lot comes from Los Cedros in Pomahuaca and is produced at La Fortuna, a 4-hectare coffee farm owned and managed by Mariano Alcarazo Paredes, a 42-year-old producer who farms the entire area under coffee.
Harvested from Marshel varietal trees, a newer Peruvian variety prized for its high quality and distinctive cup profile. Ripe cherries are selectively harvested and rested for 24–40 hours before pulping, helping to develop sweetness and complexity. The coffee is then dry fermented in bags for around 24 hours, washed twice, and slowly dried on raised beds for approximately 30 days, depending on weather conditions, until it reaches a stable moisture content ideal for export and long-term storage. -

Don't pay any attention to my star rating if your thinking of trying this coffee, its a taste subjective thing. The flavours are sort of as advertised but the flavour is quite washed out and shallow even when the shot is made while building high pressure, so its more like the flavours are created by what's missing and leftover, rather than what's there. I have to say I didn't get plumb at. The bean itself is small and kind of looks low grade in my very inexpert opinion, ignore that unless you have the better expertise to judge for yourself and until you have at least tried the coffee.
One thing I think is great about this coffee is that caffeine punch is similarly extremely mild. If I had the means to run three coffees, I would absolutely buy a lot of this coffee, as while it might not have much depth, the taste result is much cleaner than having to mix your regular beans with a decaf bean. This would be a good coffee to drink casually for when your not paying any attention, and cup'a'tea is not what your after, and its early enough in the day for a bit of caffeine, and the darker coffees aren't your thing, or you prefer South American.
Not for me personally, too shallow, it absolutely has its place but that's not an option for me.
