Coffee is processed fully washed, and the parchment is delivered to the cooperative's warehouses in San Ignacio town. Each batch is evaluated for physical appearance, tasted at the quality laboratory and separated according to quality and certification. It is then transported to the dry mill in nearby Chiclayo city. The export department is based here as well as another quality control laboratory with well-trained staff, and each is under the control of a certified Q grader.
Peru - El Oso Washed Organic
Preparation – Washed
Location – Nambale, San Ignacio
Altitude – 1350-1900masl
Importer - DR Wakefield
The San Ignacio Province sits at the top of the Cajamarca region in Northern Perú where the Rio Canchis splits the country from Ecuador. The farms are located in the buffer zones of a protected natural area, and have seen spectacled bears, cock-of-the-rocks, jaguars and peccaries within their boundaries. This means working with an organic methodology and certification is a strategic point because through these standards, a culture of protection of wildlife and species in danger of extension is encouraged and created.
Harvesting and Processing:
This is a great, well balanced coffee from Peru. We love the clean-tasting notes that include tangerine, chocolate and brown sugar.
This coffee works well for all brew methods.
Filter: Dose 15g, water 250g.
Espresso: Dose 17 gram to 40 gram yield over about 30 seconds.
This coffee is available as whole bean and pre-ground, but we recommend always grinding fresh before brewing. We sell a range of grinders if you would like to grind this coffee fresh at home.
Peru - El Oso washed
Bought as part of a Christmas present for my son who says this is the best coffee he has ever tasted and he is something of a connoisseur.
Not at all bitter. Loved the taste. Will order again.
Really enjoying this coffee. Addictive!
I will be reordering again soon.
We always buy organic coffee. This is the best coffee we have bought. Very rich, with chocolate overtones. Love it.
