Nova - Espresso Blend - Horsham Coffee Roaster
£6.25 GBP

Tasting notes: Dark Chocolate, Nutty, Sweet Caramel

Brewing: This coffee works well with all filter brewers and espresso. For filter we recommend a 1 - 15 brew ratio, and for espresso a 1 - 2.1 brew ratio.

Filter: 17g - 250ml // Espresso: 18g - 36ml

Nova Espresso blend is our new take on a more tradition high quality Italian style espresso blend. Based around a really good quality coffee from Brazil, this blend is roasted a touch darker than our Workhorse blend. We've developed the blend and roast style to suit espresso extraction and it's easy to work with and fairly forgiving. It also tastes great in milk and the dark chocolate notes really cut through, even in an 8oz latte. If you are looking for a bright, juicy espresso we'd suggestion our Workhorse blend.

For espresso we suggest a brew ration of 1-2. For example, 18 gram dose to 36 grams of espresso. The timing is fairly forgiving with this one but something between 26 and 30 seconds is likely to yield the best results.

Bwishaza Co-operative Washing station, Rwanda 50% (relationship coffee)
Varietal: Red Bourbon
Process: Washed
Altitude: 1650+masl

We first visited Rwanda in 2014 and over the last few years we've developed some very close relationships within the Rwandan coffee community. We first visited Bwishaza co-operative in 2015 and have been buying coffee from them every year.

Bwishaza co-operative is located north of Kibuye close to lake Kivu. You can view the exact location via the link to google maps. The co-operative produces a wide range of speciality lots using techniques that focus on really good quality control. We've selected this lot for our Workhorse blend and feature other coffees from Bwishaza as single origins in our Relationship coffee collection.

El Salvador El Roble 20%
Varietal: Red Bourbon
Process: Red Honey
Altitude: 1500-1900 masl

El Roble produces a wide range of microlots focusing on separation of varietal and processing. We've selected a honey processed microlot. When processing the coffee cherry the mucilage is left on for the drying process. This results in a different level of fermention and an increase in fruit character and body compared to a washed coffee.

Brazil Veloso Estate 60%
Varietal: Various
Process: Natural
Altitude: +-1000 masl

Located in the west Minas Gerais region of Brazil. Veloso estate is a large farm that grows a wide range of varietals and focuses on producing really great coffees. We've selected this particular coffee as it has a traditional nutty, chocolate, sweet profile that works particularly well in a blend designed for espresso. The farm is both Rainforest Alliance and UTZ certified.

Ideal for: Espresso. Works very well in milk based drinks. If you like dark roast filter coffee or cafetiere with lots of body, and tend to use milk, then this will work well too.

  • We recommending buying whole bean coffee and grinding before brewing. We also sell 250g bags pre-ground. 1kg bags are available as wholebean only.
  • Next working day dispatch on all coffee orders.

Yes I like the coffee very tasty

Discovered Horsham at my favourite local coffee shop. Was recently gifted an espresso machine so thought I’d start a subscription for some coffee beans!

They taste great and the service was top as well!

      My new favourite

This coffee fits very well as my daily go to when I want something rounded and well balanced without acidity. I ordered some more and I like it a lot.
