About Bette Buna | Ethiopia
The Bette Buna (meaning 'House of coffee') washing station is located in Sidamo. This distinctive lot originates from Bette Buna’s own farm in the Guji Megadu region, an area renowned for its intensely red, high-quality coffee cherries. In the latest harvest, a severe shortage of farm labourers posed challenges—many ripe cherries were left unpicked, leading to a smaller yield but enhanced cherry selection.
To further elevate quality, Bette Buna’s processing team used the ‘kickstart’ process. After harvest, cherries receive an initial “kick”—a short period in an anaerobic environment—before regular natural processing begins. This brief step transforms the sugars inside the cherries, boosting sweetness and body while preserving the vibrant, fruity Sidamo-style profile.
The coffee is then dried on raised African beds, allowing it to develop depth and complexity. Once dried to the perfect moisture level, the cherries rest for around 8 weeks before dry milling and thorough hand sorting to ensure only the best beans make it to export. The result is an intensely sweet, fruit-forward cup with a remarkable balance and depth, born from both Bette Buna’s expertise and their commitment to community-driven quality. -

Lovely coffee with delicate fruity notes
I love this Ethiopian coffee. Wonderful!
Have used Horsham coffee for some time now. Always excellent taste on all coffees ordered
I rarely write reviews but on this occasion I'll make an exception. Ethiopian coffee is my favourite, and I'm always looking out for a good Yirgacheffe whenever possible.
This coffee is such a delight; the first cup I brewed delivered that peach flavour with an hibiscus aftertaste. Go on, treat yourself!
