The Chemex Coffeemaker was invented in 1941 by Dr. Peter Schlumbohm PhD. They are made in the USA using borosilicate glass and fastened with a wood collar and tie.
These brewers use fairly thick paper that imparts no flavour of it's own resulting in a very clean, clear coffee. They are also beautiful pieces of brewing equipment.
