During the course of the year, we regularly feature fantastic small individual farmer micro-lots brought to us by The Green Collection. These amazing coffees are limited edition coffee from individual small family farms and are traceable directly to a single producer. 

Producer Overview:

This fantastic coffee comes from finca Buena Vista, a 20 hectare family-owned farm located in Montalvo, Tolima. They grow a range of varietals that tend to get mixed together during the harvest season. Many older farms in Colombia are planted with a range of trees but at the time these weren't kept separate which results in a mix of varietals. Buena Vista growns an impressive mix that includes Colombia F8, Castillo, Typica and Geisha. The farm is owned and managed by Eliecer Mendez.

Harvesting and Processing:

Coffee is hand-harvested focusing on the selection of only ripe cherry. After harvest, the coffee is rested and allowed to ferment for about 30 hours. The coffee is then pulped to remove the outer layer of fruit. After removing the fruit the coffee is dry fermented in tanks for 48 hours before being washed a second time to remove any remaining fruit and then laid out to dry on raised tables. The drying stage usually takes about 2 weeks until the moisture content has reached about 11-12%. 

This two-stage fermentation process is a technique that is used by some of the best producers in Colombia and helps to achieve amazing clarity combined with intense juicy fruit notes.

Tasting Notes: 

Bright and complex acidity that includes notes of tangerine, candied lemon, and a sugar cane sweetness. This is a lovely well rounded and balanced coffee that represent the fantastic flavours we've come to love from the extended fermentation of Colombian coffee.

Brewing:

This coffee works well for all brew methods. 

Filter: Dose 15g, water 250g. 

Espresso: Dose 17 gram to 40 gram yield over about 30 seconds. 


This coffee is available as wholebean and pre ground but we recommend always grinding fresh before brewing. We sell a range of grinders if you would like to grind this coffee fresh at home.
