Organic Coffee

Tasting Notes: Chocolate, red apple, caramel

Brewing: This coffee works well with all filter brewers and espresso machines. For filter, we recommend a 1 - 16 brew ratio and for espresso a 1 - 2 (2.1) brew ratio.

Filter: 15g - 250ml // Espresso: 18g - 36-38g

Our Organic coffee blend was released in 2019 and has now evolved into a year-round single-origin coffee that changes from time to time. Roasted to highlight sweet, chocolate notes making this a perfect coffee for espresso brewing or if you enjoy coffee with rich chocolate notes and good body. Great both with and without milk!

Honduras Aprocasal co-operative organic coffee is grown in Ocotepeque, a region on Honduras' western edge, bordering Guatemala and El Salvador. Historically, it's one of the country's most notable coffee-producing regions.

In Ocotepeque's central valley, smallholder producers have pooled their resources to create a cooperative organization. This central location, between the Güisayote Biological Reserve and the mountainous Celaque National Park, is not only ideal for organizing people, but it also facilitates the production of a range of unique cup profiles. All around the valley, coffee is grown at high elevations, in fertile volcanic soil, with temperate weather and unique microclimates.

This coffee is washed in a traditional wet mill. As is common in Honduras, the coffee is dried on patios and in solar dryers. This allows for optimal quality control, as the solar dryers protect the coffee from heavy rains and potentially high-humidity environments.

Aprocasal was founded in 2018 with only 17 producer partners. Presently, its membership has grown to 144. This rapid growth is due to the cooperative’s success and is expected to continue.

Cooperative members are taught sustainable and environmentally friendly farm-management practices. They also receive technical assistance and commercialization benefits.

  • We recommend buying whole bean coffee and grinding before brewing. We also sell 250g bags pre-ground. 1kg bags are available as whole bean only.

Perfect!

This is the 2nd month using Horsham coffee subscription and it works perfectly. Right frequency, right amount and really lovely organic coffee! No smell of chemicals when opening the bag for the first time as seems to be the norm with shop bought (including organic) coffee beans.Just the great, delicious smell of coffee!
