Nova - Espresso Blend - Horsham Coffee Roaster
£6.25 GBP

Nova is our new take on a more tradition high quality Italian style espresso blend. Based around a really good quality coffee from Brazil, this blend is roasted a touch darker than our Workhorse blend. We've developed the blend and roast style to suit espresso extraction and it's easy to work with and fairly forgiving. It also tastes great in milk and the dark chocolate notes really cut through, even in an 8oz latte. If you are looking for a bright, juicy espresso we'd suggestion our Workhorse blend.

For espresso we suggest a brew ration of 1-2. For example, 18 gram dose to 36 grams of espresso. The timing is fairly forgiving with this one but something between 26 and 30 seconds is likely to yield the best results.

Tasting notes: Dark Chocolate, Nutty, Sweet Caramel

Brewing: This coffee works well with all filter brewers and espresso. For filter we recommend a 1 - 15 brew ratio, and for espresso a 1 - 2.1 brew ratio.
Example:
Filter: 17g - 250ml // Espresso: 18g - 36ml

Liza Washing station, Rwanda 30% (relationship coffee)
Varietal: Red Bourbon
Process: Washed
Altitude: 1650+masl

We first visited Liza washing station in May 2018 and have been buying coffee from them for two years.

Liza is owned by coffee farmer Jean Paul. The washing station processes coffee from his farm in addition to coffee from several hundred local farms in the area. Coffee cherry is delivered daily during the harvest season from February to June and processed on the same day. After delivery hand sorting and flotation is used to remove defects, after flotation the coffee is pulped to remove the fruit and fermented dry in large fermentation tanks. After fermentation the coffee is dried on raised tables and very carefully hand sorted to remove any defects. Jean Paul produces fantastic coffee and we are very excited to be able to work directly with him.

Fazenda Paraiso, Brazil 70%
Varietal: Yellow Bourbon, Mondo Novo, Red Catuai
Process: Pulped Natural
Altitude: 1100-1450 masl

Located in the south Minas Gerais region of Brazil. This coffee is grown at Fazenda Paraiso owned by Guy Carvalho. They grow several varietals and produce both natural and pulped natural with a strong focus on quality and environmental responsibility.

Ideal for: Espresso. Works very well in milk based drinks. If you like dark roast filter coffee or cafetiere with lots of body, and tend to use milk, then this will work well too.
